Iowa State University Offers a New Hybrid (distance) Master’s of Science Degree. The Apparel, Merchandising, and Design program at Iowa State University is accepting applications for its first cohort of a new hybrid (distance) Master’s of Science degree program, similar to the format of its hybrid Ph.D. program. Both thesis and non-thesis options are available with a focus on the following areas: Consumer behavior; Design—creative, technical, and functional; History; Learning and teaching; and Merchandising, management, and entrepreneurship. Eco-Smart Workshops. SAI Programs and C.L.A.S.S. Education are both organizations dedicated to sustainability in business and design; that's why we've joined forces to offer a series of topical "Eco-Smart Workshops" in Milan, Italy this summer! These workshops provide a great opportunity for students and emerging professionals to learn about the latest innovations in eco-smart materials and technologies, as well providing a forum to address issues concerning sustainability and design responsibility in fashion.
Design Responsibility: Eco-Smart Textile Workshop (July 2 – 8, 2017). This workshop has been designed for undergraduate students who are currently pursuing degrees in fashion design, merchandising, product development, production, textiles, brand management, and marketing. The workshop focuses on design synergy, innovative textile research, and strategic communication required to add brand value. Centered in Milan at CLASS Headquarters, this program will include a wide variety of learning activities, such as onsite lectures by textile producers (i.e. spinners and weavers), and interactive workshops which introduce participants to a new generation of textile technologies and innovations.
Fashion and the Environment (July 9 – 14, 2017). This workshop has been designed for those studying fashion design, merchandising, product development, production, textiles, brand management and marketing. The workshop introduces participants to the environmental problems associated with the fashion industry and proposes innovative solutions. Centered in Milan at C.L.A.S.S. Headquarters, participants are introduced to the global economic and environmental impacts of the fashion industry. Participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of sustainability in fashion, which includes applying the latest technological innovations to reduce waste in lower the industry's CO2 emissions.

New Configurations in Fashion: Innovative Forms Engineered Textile Printing Workshop. June 15-21, 2017. Organized by Iowa State University faculty in Apparel, Merchandising, and Design. In this hands-on workshop, junior faculty will learn engineered digital textile design and subtraction cutting/patternmaking techniques. Registration deadline is February 28, 2017. Oklahoma State University Offers New Sustainable Design Short Courses
The Department of Design, Housing, and Merchandising now offers 12 interdisciplinary sustainable design courses that provide various frameworks and research analyses to solve environmental and social issues associated with design and merchandising industry practice.
